Salida is a first in many ways. She is the first foal bred by Syrah, and has first place in my affections. At her first show, an A Class, she was awarded first place in a class of 19 yearling fillies, and went on to be awarded Champion Filly. She finished her first season with a total of 5 A Class Championships and 2 A Class Reserves and continued on in a similar fashion. She has an uncanny knack of injuring herself or contracting an illness before major shows, which coupled with her penchant for rubbing out her mane and tail, has kept her out of the show ring since she was a filly. As she is producing so superbly, her progeny have taken over for her. |
